Vets, Farriers from Midwest Gather at SVEC for 2013 Podiatry Seminar

Saginaw Valley Equine Clinic is happy to report a great turnout for our 2013 Podiatry Seminar on Saturday, Feb. 9. SVEC hosted more than 75 equine veterinarians and farriers from throughout the Midwest for the fifth-annual continuing education seminar on angular and flexural limb deformities.

Scott Morrison, DVM from Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Ky., was the keynote speaker. The seminar was sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health and Boehringer Ingelheim.

During the morning session, Dr. Morrison spoke about crooked legs and how to apply podiatry to correct the ailments. After lunch, SVEC's Brad Cumper, DVM, worked up several cases and presented them to Dr. Morrison to shoe. All said, farriers and veterinarians watched the team of Drs. Morrison and Cumper work up four horses, with complete radiographs, before and after shoeing. The event was well-received, with participants raving about the presentations.
